In a boost to the METS sector, the Western Australian Government has announced assistance for SMEs supplying to priority sectors (including mining and defence) whose business operations have been adversely impacted by COVID-19.
Assistance to SMEs may include upgrading plant and equipment; staff training and upskilling; implementing improvements to internal business infrastructure; overcoming barriers and constraints impacting on business viability; and seeking specialist advice on a range of business related issues. Assistance to industry associations will also include operational funding in recognition of their different cost structure and business objectives compared to SMEs.
The level of funding support is 75% of eligible costs up to a maximum of $100,000 (excluding GST) per successful applicant.
