METS Ignited continues to drive national ‘Clustering’ activity by collaborating with the WA Government, which through its New Industries Fund, has funded the appointment of Alan Fenelon as the inaugural WA Cluster Development Manager.
Clusters increase competitiveness, accelerate development of new products and services, and transfer knowledge and technology.
WA is home to innovative world leading companies, technologies, researchers and assets particularly in resources, critical minerals, radio astronomy, space, defence, agriculture and health.
Alan brings extensive experience in technology development, marketing and in particular, leading teams, in multiple sectors and in many international jurisdictions. Alan will work with existing, and develop new, clusters where WA has a competitive advantage, and where there are cross-sector technology development opportunities. An exciting and valuable asset in this work will be the $20M State Government funded Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct at Neerabup, which is currently under construction.
While focussing on clusters in WA, Alan will also collaborate with METS Ignited clusters in Queensland and across Australia, to help build a national network of “super clusters” to enhance Western Australia’s international competitiveness.
